5th Asia-Pacific Coral Reef Symposium, Singapore – June 19-23, 2023
The National University of Singapore and the National Parks board hosted the the 5th APCRS in Singapore on June 19-23, 2023.
14th International Coral Reef Symposium – Virtual
July 19-23, 2021
The 14th ICRS was held virtually this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but was certainly a success, thanks to the hard work by Dr. Christian Wild and his organizing committee in Bremen.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- > 850 oral and poster presentations across 15 themes, plus several workshops
- 1308 participants from 80 countries; 60% female
- > 500 participating students
- First climate neutral ICRS (https://www.icrs2021.de/green-strategy)
- 95% of all oral and poster presentations of the 14th ICRS available in the archive on the platform until 15th ICRS in Bremen starts on July 3 2022
- Release of Science-to-Policy document: “Rebuilding Coral Reefs: A Decadal Grand Challenge“
10th Mexican Coral Reef Congress, Manzanillo, Colima, México
April 2-5, 2019
The Mexican Coral Reef Congress is held every two years, and is the most important meeting on reef issues for researchers and students in Mexico. It is sponsored by the Sociedad Mexicana de Arrecifes Coralinos (SOMAC). The Congress typically includes more than 100 presentations, mostly by Mexican researchers and students but including participants from USA, Cuba, United Kingdom, Costa Rica, Colombia, Chile and Argentina. The focus is on reef organisms and processes of both Pacific and Atlantic (Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean) of Mexico. The 10th Congress was held at Universidad de Colima.
Reef Futures 2018, Key Largo, Florida, USA
December 10-14, 2018
Reef Futures 2018, hosted by the Coral Restoration Consortium, was the first of its kind on the science of coral restoration and intervention. Over 450 people attended and addressed five main themes: (1) the role of restoration in reef management/conservation, (2) restoration operations: best practices, techniques, and tools for scaling-up, (3) restoration and interventions in the context of a changing planet, (4) demonstrating value and efficacy of restoration and interventions, and (5) people taking restoration action around the world.
European Coral Reef Symposium, Oxford, England
13-16 June, 2017
Reef Conservation UK (RCUK) hosted the European Coral Reef Symposium at the Examination Schools, University of Oxford, Oxford, England. Some 500 persons attended for a three-day event that marked the 20th anniversary of Reef Conservation UK. It was organized in association with ICRS and the Zoological Society of London.
