Student Travel Grants

Student Travel Grants are now available to support the attendance of ICRS student members at the International Coral Reef Symposia in Auckland, New Zealand in 2026.

The application deadline is February 15, 2026.

To be considered for a travel award, you must be a current student member of ICRS and have submitted an abstract for the Symposium. Only presenters of accepted abstracts will be eligible to receive travel awards and the committee will check for presentation acceptance before making final decisions. Selection among eligible applicants will be determined by lottery but we will also take into account geographical distribution. A maximum of $2,000 will be awarded for each Student Travel Grant.

An application should consist of this completed form, and the following documents, combined into a single file:

  • a short cover letter describing the need and benefit of a travel award (<500 words)
  • a short curriculum vitae (2 pg max)
  • verification of enrollment from your institution (copy of enrollment letter)
  • evidence of current ICRS membership (membership letter or screenshot of ICRS profile)
  • verification of abstract submission for the symposium

All of the above documents are required to submit this form. The documents must be combined into a single word or pdf file prior to submission. The file must be < 10 mb in size and should be named as: ApplicantLastName_ICRSSCF

Please also note that you cannot save and return to this form; have all materials ready prior to submission.
