The European Coral Reef Symposium held in Oxford (England, UK) over 13th-15th December was, according to all the feedback received, a great success. Congratulatioons to RCUK and its organising committee on such a well-organised and enjoyable meeting. There were some 500 delegates present, including a surprising number from outside Europe, especially Australia, Mexico and the USA. Presentations, in fiveparallel sessions, and the three excellent plenary lectures, were given in the historic setting of the Oxford University examinations school (above left). But there was plenty of time for social interaction and networking, during coffee and lunch breaks as well as at the welcome drinks sesssion and formal dinner held in the University Natural History Museum (above right) and Sommerville College respectively.
