Best Student Presentation Awards

At least two ‘Best Student Talk’ and two ‘Best Student Poster’ awards will be given at International Coral Reef Symposia and at least one at other ICRS-sponsored/ affiliated regional or special topic meetings. The winners will receive a certificate, free membership to the society for the following two years and (if available) additional items.

To be eligible, graduate or undergraduate students (or recent students) must:

  • be the presenter of the talk or poster,
  • be the first or second author of the presentation concerned,
  • be a current member of ICRS at the commencement of the meeting (unless otherwise specified)
  • be a registered student at the time of abstract submission.

In order to be considered for the award the student or another member of the society on their behalf must submit prior to the opening of the conference a relevant notification form. For the international coral reef symposia the notification is included in the registration process. For other sponsored events this form may be used and should be submitted directly to the conference organiser(s).

Presentations will be evaluated by a panel of suitably experienced meeting participants using a standardized evaluation format. Scores will be collated after the last talk has been given and the awards presented at the end of the meeting.
