ICRS Conservation Committee
Following the Society’s active promotion at the Climate Change Conference in Paris (CoP21) of measures to limit global warming, ICRS Council approved the formation of a formal Conservation Committee, which addresses selected conservation issues.
In 2021, following the efforts of Rupert Ormond to obtain “observer” status for ICRS, the ICRS Conservation Committee organized a delegation of ICRS members to attend COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland. The official ICRS flyer for COP26 is entitled “A Plan to Save the World’s Coral Reefs.”
Any member interested in joining the Committee, participating in its activities, or proposing a reef-related conservation issue for consideration is encouraged to contact the Committee Chairs: Raquel Peixoto and Simon Harding.
Please keep in mind, given limitations of time and resources, it may not be possible for the Committee to investigate or campaign on every matter drawn to its attention. Those interested in proposing a topic are advised to review the Committee’s Criteria for Action below.
